Biko also predicted that, "In time, we shall be in a position to bestow on South Africa the greatest possible gift-a more human face." Indeed, that is Biko's legacy not just for Africa but for the entire human race...a more human face. Our human race has needed a radical transformation and makeover for countless centuries.
The effects of colonialism past and present are visible all over Africa. It is not an overstatement when Edem Kodjo, author of ‘Africa Tomorrow’ describes the condition of African as “torn away from his past, propelled into a universe fashioned from outside that suppresses his values, and dumbfounded by a cultural invasion that marginalises him. The African,... is today the deformed image of others. ”
Africa is out of game.
The Africa Social studies and Research Centre (ASSRC) was founded in 2004 in Johannesburg , South Africa , to enhance collaborative research and scholarly exchange between Turkish and African scholars, educators, and institutions and to increase knowledge about and interest in Africa in the Turkey . ASSRC is a nucleus of intellectual curiosity and collaboration on issues of critical importance to our understanding of African culture and African societies.
